Sketch or Template Variations
I never used to inlcude templates or sketches as part of my creative process. For some reason I had a hangup using them because I felt that I would be cheating myself out of some of the art of creating. However, lately, I have finally spent a bit of time using various templates, making them my own and still enjoying the doing! Go figure... Here's one such example... I used After Five Design's Kristin Rice's layered PSD template (makes it super easy for digital scrappers to get things on the page by using the layers) that can also be used as a sketch. Credits: Camila Desings & Kitty Chen Island of Joy (afterfivedesigns), Jenn Patrick Backward Staples, Kristin Rice Template (afterfivedesigns), Font - 1942 reportHere's a few more takes on the sketch by the following artists: PrincessJoyce, Kristin, the template designer, Amson, Milo82, Bobbie, bderby, 1girl1boy, and Adriana. As you can see, there are so many possibilities for sketches and templates. I challenge you to give this one a try! Use your traditional or even try using some digital scrapbooking supplies to create a layout using this sketch and/or one of these layouts for inspiration. You may be surprised to see where the challenge will lead! Most of all, enjoy the doing.

a Homade Valentine
I got my Memory Maker's Newsletter the other day. So many great ideas in there and freebies! Like this awesome digital download from Crystal Jeffrey Rieger. You can go here to download it. What is cool about digital elements like these tickets is they are easily made into "hybrid" projects. You can easily use a program like Microsoft Word to print out these adorable tickets. You can even resize them in those programs. I made the tickets smaller than their original size and printed them out on white cardstock. Trimmed them down and added them to my Valentines Card. I made this cute ticket large so I could turn it into a mini album. It is roughly 4 x 6. Printed it off on kraft cardstock and now it is ready to be filled. So go grab those digital tickets and have some fun. And if you haven't signed up for the Newsletter yet, what are you waiting for? Love, always Ronda Palazzari

A Handmade Mini Album :: Part 2
Are you ready to finish up your mini album? Here are some quick instructions that pick up where this post left off on Sunday: 14. Add ribbon to the front and back covers to hide the fabric edge. 15. Wrap and adhere the ends of the ribbon to create a nice, finished look. These ends will be covered up when you add your pages. 16. Cut a piece of thin cardstock or paper to 10" x 5". Fold in half. 17. Adhere this to one side of your glued page block. The fold should be along the glued side. 18. Repeat this process on the other side of your glued page block. 19. Lay your outer cover piece flat. 20. Adhere the pages to the inside of the back cover. 21. Add glue to the other side of the page block and simply close the book. Make sure everything is lined up nicely. 22. Press between a few books until completely dry. Add additional embellishments to the cover. You are now ready to scrap the inside pages! Gather your favorite photos and some matching papers and have fun creating these cute little "homes" for your memories. Once you get the process down, you can make quite a few in no time at all. Enjoy! ~Kim Kim Frantz

Punch Up Your Valentine Photo Cards
I love making Belle's Valentine cards every year. I try to do something a little bit different each time. This year I thought it would be cute to use my digital supplies to design my own photo cards. I thought it would be fun to design a 4x6 photo card and have them printed for her teacher and class. I wanted to use the sentiment "Valentine, You make my heart Flutter!" and use a combo of my favorite Valentine's Day kit and Butterfly elements. Once I was finished with everything except adding the digi butterflies I thought it would add dimension to use my butterfly punch. I really like how these turned out. Using a digital photo card made making the cards so much quicker and easier to put together. Adding the photo to the top of a real card and gluing down the butterflies took no time at all. I hope it inspires you a little when you are creating your own Valentine cards! Thanks for taking a peek at our Valentine Cards! Enjoy! Have You Ever Wonder
Have you ever wondered how it all comes together at CHA? Vendors fly in and crates are shipped from all over the country all for several days of mad chaos and selling the dream. I came into Anaheim early and helped out a new manufacturer: Jillibean Soup. The showroom floor is always a mess unpacked crates spilling everywhere. It’s a wonder it all comes together in time. When we arrived to lend a hand the shell of the booth was already set up and the furniture in place. I spent a few hours putting up vinyl flowers and arranging displays. We bopped around to the tunes from a neighboring booth, sharing laughs and taking pictures.

With a lot of hard work it all came together.

The icing on the cake is a booth packed full of customers loving your product.

Happy Scrapping ~ Summer Summer Fullerton

Never Too Late
I am always really good about getting my Christmas cards out on time. But, this year was different. In keeping with my goal of simplifying my life, I decided that I wasn't going to stress myself out during the holidays. We did so many fun things as a family this year. Adding a pile of cards to address and send would have been too much. So, I decided to hold off until New Year's. Well, the beginning of the year came and went. Finally, a couple of weeks ago, I decided that I'd send Valentine's cards instead. I love Valentine's Day and with the overloaded schedule of the holidays behind me, I was able to concentrate on my cards. It was really fun getting the photo of my son and creating the card. I'm picking them up this morning and hope to have them out in the mail by the end of the week.
I ended up using a digital kit that I'd been drooling over for weeks. This one is called Jubilee. It's by Holly McCaig Designs. I love the colors!!

Moral of the story? It's never too late to get those holiday cards out to friends and family. Who says they have to be for Christmas only? Maybe next year I'll send 4th of July ones. :) Anabelle O’Malley

Great finds at CHA Winter
I had a wonderful time at CHA winter and I was so glad I got meet fellow masters Summer and Gretchen in person!
I am thrilled that 7gypsies has taken the designs from their self inking stamps and made them into clear acrylic stamps -these are definitely going on my shopping list.

I also liked these extra large arrow photo turns from 7gypsies

These two travel lines from s.e.i. and Little Yellow Bicycle where very cute.

My absolute favorite new product has to be these low profile punches from EK Success! Why didn't anyone think of these sooner!

Those are just a few of my favorite new products. Have a great week everyone!

A Handmade Mini Album :: Part 1
Mini albums are a fun way to: document an event, pay tribute to a family member or friend, or showcase a group of your favorite photos. There are many methods for creating mini albums. I often like to use handmade book binding techniques to create these small treasures. I would like to share this project in 2 parts. Part 1 posted today, Part 2 posted on Wednesday. To begin, you will need: --> 12 x 12 piece of chipboard --> Cardstock --> Fabric --> White Tacky Glue (should be thick)INSTRUCTIONS:1. Cut 2 pieces of chipboard for the front and back cover. They should each measure 5" x 5". 2. Cover both sides of each piece with cardstock. 3. Lay down a piece of fabric with the wrong side facing up. 4. Cut a small piece of chipboard for the spine. It should measure 5" x 1/4". 5. Adhere the spine piece to the center of the fabric. 6. Adhere the front and back cover on either side of the spine piece. Leave a small space in between the pieces. 7. Fold down the fabric from the top and adhere. Fold up the fabric from the bottom and adhere. 8. Cut 2 pieces of cardstock slightly smaller than your covers. Adhere them on the inside of the front and back covers. This will create a nice, finished look on the inside of your bound cover. 9. Leave this piece flat and press between a few heavy books. Let dry completely. 10. To create the inside pages, cut 6 pieces of cardstock 1/4" smaller than your covers. 11. Use clothes pins to keep the pages together and aligned. 12. Add a thick, even layer of white tacky glue along one edge. 13. Let this dry completely. Check to make sure all of the pages are adhered together. Add more glue if needed. On Wednesday, I will post instructions for finishing up this cute little album. If you have any questions, please feel free to post them here. I will also post a few other albums I have made. They are so fun and addicting! I hope you enjoy this project! ~Kim (Supplies: Crafty Board by WorldWin, Bier Paper by Gmund, Cream Cardstock, Decorative Scissors by Fiskars, Grunge Board Butterfly by Tim Holtz, Metal Frame by We R Memory Keepers, Flower Gem by Hero Arts, Small Crystals by MAMBI, Fabric, Ribbon, Brads.) Vellum Love
Good afternoon everyone! Can you believe it's February?! Valentine's Day is only 13 days away - I love all of the Valentine's colors and decorations - pinks, reds, blacks - so gorgeous.
Anyway, in honor of February I thought I'd do a layout all about my Lil' Lovebug Addison. I used an old favorite for this layout - vellum! When I first started scrapbooking vellum was everywhere. These days it's not nearly as popular but I still love it - especially for stamping. I used a frosty white sheet of it for my title work ("love") and for my border stamp! It's such a versatile product!

If you have any cool and unique ideas using vellum please share them with me!!

As I was flying home I remembered a layout I did a little while ago about my love for flying. I originally thought I might use this layout as part of my Masters entry but decided against it. So I am sharing it here instead!

Ink Spots
I love the look of grunge and I am always trying to find new ways to add it to my layouts in a fun way. A great way to add a sprinkle of color to your layouts is to use Ink Sprays, but beware they are addicting! :) On this layout I used Tim Holtz™ Adirondack® Color Wash™ (Butterscotch) diluted with some water. I used the diluted color wash in a mini mister and placed a template (the question marks) on my pattern paper and sprayed over the template.

I still had left over wash on the template, this is the fun part! I just turned over the template and gently tapped the back of it and the remains of the wash are now spinkled over my page. Then I repeated this step over different portions of my layout where I wanted to add the ink spots. To add a little color and dimension I did the same with some spray paint (the black ink spots).

It is a fun process, hope you give it a try!

Winter Inspiration
We had a bit of snow here today. And we're supposed to have some more tonight into tomorrow morning. I'm hoping for a snowday! So, I thought it would be fun to peruse the MM gallery and find some great Winter themed layouts for inspiration. I know I'm going to have some fun snow pictures to scrap soon. Here are some of my favorite pages that I saw.
This first one is by Jackie Ann Williams. It's so cute! I love the strips of paper and the fun frame around the photo.

This one by Melissa Green is just stunning. I love the frosty feel to it and the snowflakes that surround the photo.

This one by Janet Almhoes is so cool. I love the effect of the photo and how she made her friend's eyes the focus of the page. It may not be a winter theme, but it totally has that wintery feel.

There's so much to love about this last page! The way Heather (Hines) framed the photo, those snowflakes, how she did the journaling....I love it all.

So, I hope these pages leave you with lots of inspiration. I know I'm certainly ready to start creating!
Have a great day.~ Anabelle Anabelle O’Malley
