Have You Ever Wonder

Have you ever wondered how it all comes together at CHA? Vendors fly in and crates are shipped from all over the country all for several days of mad chaos and selling the dream. I came into Anaheim early and helped out a new manufacturer: Jillibean Soup. The showroom floor is always a mess unpacked crates spilling everywhere. It’s a wonder it all comes together in time. When we arrived to lend a hand the shell of the booth was already set up and the furniture in place. I spent a few hours putting up vinyl flowers and arranging displays. We bopped around to the tunes from a neighboring booth, sharing laughs and taking pictures.

With a lot of hard work it all came together.

The icing on the cake is a booth packed full of customers loving your product.

Happy Scrapping ~ Summer

Never Too Late

I am always really good about getting my Christmas cards out on time. But, this year was different. In keeping with my goal of simplifying my life, I decided that I wasn't going to stress myself out during the holidays. We did so many fun things as a family this year. Adding a pile of cards to address and send would have been too much. So, I decided to hold off until New Year's. Well, the beginning of the year came and went. Finally, a couple of weeks ago, I decided that I'd send Valentine's cards instead. I love Valentine's Day and with the overloaded schedule of the holidays behind me, I was able to concentrate on my cards. It was really fun getting the photo of my son and creating the card. I'm picking them up this morning and hope to have them out in the mail by the end of the week.

I ended up using a digital kit that I'd been drooling over for weeks. This one is called Jubilee. It's by Holly McCaig Designs. I love the colors!!

Moral of the story? It's never too late to get those holiday cards out to friends and family. Who says they have to be for Christmas only? Maybe next year I'll send 4th of July ones. :)

Great finds at CHA Winter

I had a wonderful time at CHA winter and I was so glad I got meet fellow masters Summer and Gretchen in person!

I am thrilled that 7gypsies has taken the designs from their self inking stamps and made them into clear acrylic stamps -these are definitely going on my shopping list.

I also liked these extra large arrow photo turns from 7gypsies

These two travel lines from s.e.i. and Little Yellow Bicycle where very cute.

My absolute favorite new product has to be these low profile punches from EK Success! Why didn't anyone think of these sooner!

Those are just a few of my favorite new products. Have a great week everyone!

A Handmade Mini Album :: Part 1

Mini albums are a fun way to: document an event, pay tribute to a family member or friend, or showcase a group of your favorite photos. There are many methods for creating mini albums. I often like to use handmade book binding techniques to create these small treasures.

I would like to share this project in 2 parts. Part 1 posted today, Part 2 posted on Wednesday.

To begin, you will need:
--> 12 x 12 piece of chipboard
--> Cardstock
--> Fabric
--> White Tacky Glue (should be thick)

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Cut 2 pieces of chipboard for the front and back cover. They should each measure 5" x 5".
2. Cover both sides of each piece with cardstock.

3. Lay down a piece of fabric with the wrong side facing up.
4. Cut a small piece of chipboard for the spine. It should measure 5" x 1/4".
5. Adhere the spine piece to the center of the fabric.
6. Adhere the front and back cover on either side of the spine piece. Leave a small space in between the pieces.

7. Fold down the fabric from the top and adhere. Fold up the fabric from the bottom and adhere.

8. Cut 2 pieces of cardstock slightly smaller than your covers. Adhere them on the inside of the front and back covers. This will create a nice, finished look on the inside of your bound cover.
9. Leave this piece flat and press between a few heavy books. Let dry completely.

10. To create the inside pages, cut 6 pieces of cardstock 1/4" smaller than your covers.
11. Use clothes pins to keep the pages together and aligned.
12. Add a thick, even layer of white tacky glue along one edge.
13. Let this dry completely. Check to make sure all of the pages are adhered together. Add more glue if needed.

On Wednesday, I will post instructions for finishing up this cute little album. If you have any questions, please feel free to post them here.
I will also post a few other albums I have made. They are so fun and addicting!

I hope you enjoy this project!
~Kim

Vellum Love

Good afternoon everyone!  Can you believe it's February?!  Valentine's Day is only 13 days away - I love all of the Valentine's colors and decorations - pinks, reds, blacks - so gorgeous.

Anyway, in honor of February I thought I'd do a layout all about my Lil' Lovebug Addison.  I used an old favorite for this layout - vellum!  When I first started scrapbooking vellum was everywhere.  These days it's not nearly as popular but I still love it - especially for stamping.  I used a frosty white sheet of it for my title work ("love") and for my border stamp!  It's such a versatile product!

If you have any cool and unique ideas using vellum please share them with me!!

Sharing

I got back from CHA in Anaheim a few days ago.
How fun that was!
I got to see fellow Masters Amy Martin, Christine Drumheller, and Summer Fullerton as well as meet contributing editor Staci Etheridge!

As I was flying home I remembered a layout I did a little while ago about my love for flying.
I originally thought I might use this layout as part of my Masters entry but decided against it.
So I am sharing it here instead!

Supplies: Patterned paper (Making Memories: dot, My Mind's Eye: red, KI Memories: clouds), Chipboard (American Crafts: alphabets, Heidi Swapp: heart), Bling (Glitz), Misc: pinking sheers, embroidery floss

Ink Spots

I love the look of grunge and I am always trying to find new ways to add it to my layouts in a fun way. A great way to add a sprinkle of color to your layouts is to use Ink Sprays, but beware they are addicting! :) On this layout I used Tim Holtz™ Adirondack® Color Wash™ (Butterscotch) diluted with some water. I used the diluted color wash in a mini mister and placed a template (the question marks)  on my pattern paper and sprayed over the template.

I  still had left over wash on the template, this is the fun part! I just turned over the template and gently tapped the back of it and the remains of the wash are now spinkled over my page. Then I repeated this step over different portions of my layout where I wanted to add the ink spots. To add a little color and dimension I did the same with some spray paint (the black ink spots).

It is a fun process, hope you give it a try!

Winter Inspiration

We had a bit of snow here today. And we're supposed to have some more tonight into tomorrow morning. I'm hoping for a snowday! So, I thought it would be fun to peruse the MM gallery and find some great Winter themed layouts for inspiration. I know I'm going to have some fun snow pictures to scrap soon. Here are some of my favorite pages that I saw.

This first one is by Jackie Ann Williams. It's so cute! I love the strips of paper and the fun frame around the photo.

This one by Melissa Green is just stunning. I love the frosty feel to it and the snowflakes that surround the photo.

This one by Janet Almhoes is so cool. I love the effect of the photo and how she made her friend's eyes the focus of the page. It may not be a winter theme, but it totally has that wintery feel.

There's so much to love about this last page! The way Heather (Hines) framed  the photo, those snowflakes, how she did the journaling....I love it all.

So, I hope these pages leave you with lots of inspiration. I know I'm certainly ready to start creating!

Have a great day.~ Anabelle

Flower frenzy
Don't you just love flowers?  and how about fabric?  ME too!  that's why I was over the moon when my friend jessi showed me how to make these adorable fabric flowers.  And Now I am showing you!

Gather up 3 pieces of coordinating fabrics.  Here I have a teal, a yellow, & a white sheer.

Cut 3 circles from the fabric.  One small, one medium, and one large.  These can be any size and don't sweat making them perfect.

Stack the flowers one right on top of the next larger size.

Using a pointing object (I used my scissors), gather the circles to a point with the largest one on the outside.  Next take a needle & thread and stitch the end.  It should be gathered into almost like a triangle.  You can also unfold it after a few stitches and regather it in a different way.

Unfold and you should have a flower something like this.  You can embellish the center in lots of different ways, with buttons, brads, a pop of pattern paper....the possibility is endless.  Don't have lots of fabric laying around?  You can use pattern paper and create this little flower too!

Here's what I did with my little flowers.  I love this recent picture of my family and these flowers were the perfect addition to my page.

Supplies (most supplies from Kenner Road kits including: Pattern Paper (Amy Butler (k & Co), Hambly Studios); Ribbon (May Arts); Tag (MY Mind's Eye); other supplies (buttons, pins, ribbon)
, Mist (Tattered Angels)

Love, always
Ronda

Inanimate Objects
Anyone heading to CHA this weekend in Anaheim?  I'm looking forward to the trip - seeing great, new products and meeting both old and new friends.  I'll be wandering around with my usual star-struck, overwhelmed look, so, if you see me, grab me and say hi!

On to actual work...  So often I find myself scrapping pictures of people, most often my children.  Sometimes, it's fun to step outside that box and scrap something other than a person.  In this layout, I showcased two of DS's most favorite things - chalk and a race car.

(Credits: Buttons - Kim Christensen HippieDippie + Baja Breeze; Anne DeJong Paper Flowers; Lauren Reid Sexy Tractor (Scrapartist); JGaidecki Flower Garden (thedigichick); Lisa Warren Beautiful Mess II + Plum Yum (scrapartist); Amy Hutchinson Add on Chick + Bottoms Up Boy (afterfivedesigns); Natalie Braxton Love + Ribbon in the Sky (the-lilypad); Katie Pertiet Buttons Galore (designerdigitals); Emily Merritt Going Home (wearestorytellers); Amy Wolff Blushing (the-lilypad); Rachel Young Good Day Sunshine (scrapbookgraphics); Stitching - Traci Reed Bad Sewing Machine (sweetshoppedesigns); Bookplate - Kasia Designs Puddle Jumper (wearestorytellers); Wordart - Karla Dudley Time (afterfivedesigns); Frame + Tab- Robin Carlton Snapz II + Tab You're It (sweetshoppedesigns); Papers - Amy Wolff Leftovers (the-lilypad), Amanda Resende Sweet Little Monsters (afterfivedesigns); Tracy Ann Robinson Active Life Basics (tracyanndigitalart); Font - Arial Narrow)

So, I challenge you to put your scrapping skills to work and scrap a photo of an inanimate object!  It's fun to step outside the box on occasion and challenge yourself!  Try it out!

All About Me Album

I recently thought I would start an All About Me album. It is one of my goals for 2009 to spend some time putting together this project.  I have some fabulous old photos from my mom, and at least ½ dozen boxes of slides. The photo I used for this layout is not from a slide. I scanned in the original photo and did a little tweaking in Photoshop. This is the first page of my album.

Supplies Used: Cardstock from Bazzill and Coredinations, Pink Paislee Patterned paper, Punch from Martha Stewart, KI Flower and button, alpha stickers from K& Co and Doodlebug, brads from Basic grey and Cricut.

I am headed off to CHA - Enjoy your weekend ~ Summer
