Layout in a Box: Great Gift for Scrapbooking Friends
Hi Everyone! Today I thought I would show you one of my favorite scrappy gifts to give. Sometimes instead of making a card I like to give Layouts In a Box. It really takes about the same amount of time as making a card. The last one I made was for my friend Kristina. I think she liked it a lot. It is a cute way to give your friends a gift you know that they will love. You can personalize it to match their personalities or whatever type of layouts you know they are working on. It is also a great way to recyle your tins, paper mache boxes and even sturdy notecard boxes. If you are like me, you have tons of them laying around. I used a Prima tin for this one.
I like using the mini round tins inside to hold embellishments and
glitters but you can even use tiny baggies for yours. Add bits of
coordinating scrap papers and cardstock then fill with brads, glitters, buttons,
jewels, flowers, die cuts, ribbons. Try to add everything they might
need to finish a layout or two. I love to add a new embellishment to
the box too maybe a small acrylic stamp and block like this or a paper
punch. These are so much fun to make and give. I can see a fun swap
using these too. I hope your friends like them! Enjoy! Love, Melissa Melissa Blair

Strawberry ... Blueberry ... Blackberry
Really this post has nothing to do with fruit and everything to do with my phone. To make a long story short I had to get a new phone. I loved the calendar function and touch screen of my Palm Centro but the phone capabilities left something to be desired. In my quest to stay on top of my schedule I went with the Blackberry Pearl instead. UGH 3 days later I can't figure this thing out. It took me 20 minutes to enter an apointment the other day. Sad I know. So Blackberry users tell me your best tips on using my new phone. Will I ever get used to the key pad?
On a side note tomorrow is the first day of school.
Cheers,

Summer Fullerton

Another Introduction
Guess it's my turn to introduce myself! I'm Amy, the (*mostly*) digital gal, new to the Masters group. Hopefully throughout the next year I'll be able to share some tips about the ease of overlap between paper scrapping and digital, some tricks that will help anyone become comfortable using the computer as an editing tool, as well as some of the joys of hybrid and all digital scrapping. Scrapbook Paper = Fun Jewlery
I don't wear a lot of jewlery, but, when I do, I love fun, unique pieces. When I came across some really cool glass charms that were created using beautiful papers I knew I had to give it a try! I'm a scrapbooker after all, and I have more than enough beautiful papers that I could turn into funky charms! There are plenty of different ways to create these unique pieces of jewlery. The easiest way I found was to purchase a pre-made "kit" containing everything (minus the papers) that I would need. Each kit contained a tube of Diamond Glaze, E6000 Glue, the glass charms and hooks.
The process is super simple too! You simply trim the paper to the size & shape of the glass (I just traced around it) and then cut it out. You apply the Diamond Glaze to the back of the glass charm and then adhere your paper to it. Smooth it to get out any little bubbles and trim off any excess around the glass that might be showing. Using the E6000, you adhere the tiny hook to the back of the charm. Simple, huh?! Here is what I created:

(Supplies used: Patterned Paper: Scribble Scrabble, Making Memories, Sultane; Diamond Glaze, E6000 Glue, Glass Charms, Hooks)
These were so much fun to make, I have plans to make a lot more, even some for my girls to wear! If you have any questions, just let me know :o)
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday! For those in the path of Hurricane Gustav, please stay safe, you're in my thoughts and prayers!!!

My Story
It began a long time ago. As a little girl, I loved to collect memorabilia from family vacations. In grade school, I began taking photos of friends. Large scrapbooks followed - photos, certificates, various elements of teenage life. I would go through magazines and cut out letters and words to embellish the pages.
College brought about similar collections of memories. Fast forward to about 10 years ago, I put together an archival scrapbook of our honeymoon. This wonderful obsession of combining memories with paper and glue has continued to present day. In addition to scrapbook layouts, I love to make greeting cards, handmade books, and paper illustrations. I am so honored and excited to be a part of the class of 2009. I am looking forward to a fun year full of inspiration, good times, and the stories yet to be written. Sincerely, Kim Frantz Kim Frantz

Another newbie saying hello!

Products used: Cardstock (Bazzill), patterned paper (Scenic Route), alphabet stickers (Doodlebug), ribbon
I am Gretchen McElveen and I am another one of the '09 Masters.
(I think that is finally starting to sink in and I am pretty excited about this next year!)
Just wanted to stop in here and introduce myself.
I think the journaling on this layout gives a pretty good picture of who I am right now:
I am a runner. I like to make stuff. I like to take pictures but hardly know how to use my camera. I am often told my brothers are hot. I am 30. I am a Nascar lover. I am not a good cook. I am addicted to Dr. Pepper. I hate reading directions. My car is always messy. I love my husband's dimples. I am Gretchen. I am happy.
Oh, and I like to scrapbook...alot.

Products used: Patterned paper, die cuts, chipboard letter (My Little Shoebox), brads (KI Memories), staples
Enjoy the long weekend!

Greetings from the West Coast
And the introductions continue. Hi my name is Summer Fullerton and I am your resident west coast 2009 Master. I live just outside Portland, Oregon in Tigard with my husband Brad, our 2 kids Grant (11) and Corinne (8) and our 25 pound cat Jasper. I have been scrapbooking as we know it today since the birth of my son in 1997. I call myself a traditional scrapbooker - I love the photos, the story and the process. I am a night owl hence the late night post ;). I love a quiet house and a late night full of scrapbooking.
What inspires you? Is it the product, the story, or the photos? I was so honored when my dear friend Linda Harrison invited me to contribute several layouts to her book Starting Points. I was asked to share a layout I did for the book and thought since we were on introductions this layout would be appropriate. I used the old photos as my starting point.

(Supplies Used: Cardstock by Bazzill; Patterned Paper & Embellishment by Tinkering Ink; Felt flower by American Crafts; Chipboard number & symbol by Basic Grey; Rubons by Heidi Grace; Misc: AvantGarde font, floss, staples & paint)
Enjoy the last Saturday of August. xo xo xo Summer Summer Fullerton

Hi everyone! Jaime Warren here...
It's hard to follow Vee's awesome tutorial and layout! I loved it! I wanted to introduce myself to everyone! You'll find that I love exclamation points a little too much LOL! ;o) I'm the mom of three beautiful little girls, Hailey (8), Jillian (6) and Addison who is inching closer to 19 months (where does the time go?) I am married to my best friend and soul mate, Mac. We have been together for nearly 13 years now, married for 9. I live in an itty bitty little town in Georgia. I moved here from Florida when I was 12, and while at the time it was an alien world to me, I couldn't imagine not living the slow paced life that I do.
I have always been creating in some form or another, whether it was through scrapbooking, photography or writing. I get my creative genes from both parents, my dad is amazing at pretty much anything creative that he picks up, and my mom is a wonderful writer. I fell in love with photography at a young age and I am so happy to have a creative outlet that lets me incorporate that.
I am so thankful to be part of this amazing group of talented women. I look at their work and I'm just inspired to get in my scrap room and create! Speaking of creating, I have a layout to share with you today :o) I used lots of gorgeous goodies, I am totally in love with Jenni Bowlin and my new Studio Calico butterfly stamp. Thank you everyone for letting me introduce myself! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

TGIF Intro.
First of all Happy Friday!! This is Veronica Jennings aka Vee. I am a 31 year old mother to Saadiq and Synai;sister to Brigittee and furmomma to Aiden (my miniature schnauzer)! He is named after Carrie's boyfriend in SATC, one of my favorite shows. We live in the suburbs of Washington, DC. It is a great area to live in, right in the thick of the the Nation's Capital. I started scrapbooking almost eight years ago after the birth of my son, Saadiq. I love to make mini books, the most next to layouts with lots of paint and nonscrapbook supplies mixed in! :) I am thrilled to be a MMM and can't wait to get to know you better in the upcoming year! My post today is is a technique of sorts involving you guessed it... PAINT!! To complete this layout you will need: cardstock paint template of choice foam brush pen I love to recycle and always try to reuse paper, cardboard, packaging, etc. This happens to be a cupcake holder that was in the base of an order of cupcakes. When I was breaking down the box for recyclng, I had a light bulb moment when I saw the circles in the bottom of the box, I did! I immediately thought it would make the perfect template for perfect circles. Other things that can be used as templates that you may throw away are paper towel roles, tops to soda bottles, peanut butter tops or the bottom of those kid's cups that you get from restaurants! Once you you have your supplies take your template and and start to draw the outline of the template so you have an idea where to paint. I like to paint on cardstock because you have a blank canvas to play with! Plus it dries fast and I love the how the cardstock's texture peaks thru the paint! Once you have your shape on your cardstock you can start painting the middle. I usually drip a little bit of paint in the middle of the shape then spread it around. When you get to the edges of the shapes just dab your foam brush around the outlines instead of spreading the paint. Foam brushes hold a ton of paint so you will have a enough on the brush to stretch. It is okay to go outside the lines! Now play with your design, I added another layer to my circle in my middle circle by tracing around the template again. On another circle I used the same template and cut out a circle, punched out another circle for some dimension and added to the last circle. Here is my completed layout with my own handmade background! I hope you enjoyed my entry today! :) Have a Happy Labor Day to my US friends!! xo Supplies used: Alphas (American Crafts Thickers) Cardstock (Bazzill) Fabric (Heather Bailey) Paint (Making Memories) Pattern Paper(Love, Elsie, October Afternoon) Pen (American Crafts Pro Pen) Veronica Jennings

Hello from Melissa Blair
Hi Everyone! I guess I should take a
second to introduce myself. I'm Melissa Blair. I live in Arkansas
with my husband, Brandon, and sweet daughter Belle. We also have 2
kittens named Olive and Duchess Marie. I started scrapbooking
traditionally about 6 years ago after my daughter was born. I have
to say that most of my craftiness comes from my mom, Jane, who is an
amazing crafter. I remember she was always ready to help with a
craft or art project when I was growing up. I think having that
background is what made me a bit fearless when I started
scrapbooking. I enjoy scrapbooking everyday life and I am so
excited to share my work this year. The layout I am sharing today is
a perfect example of my love for everyday moments. “Belle @ Play”
tells the story of Belle's current obsession with the computer. I like adding the "@" in the title like her email address. I
listed her favorite websites and I think one day she will look back
and crack up at all the time she spent on webkinz. I
also included how Belle's favorite font, Smiley Monster, looks at the
bottom. I think it is the tiny touches that you add to a layout that
makes them special. I hope you find a little inspiration in this
page. Make a layout of your children's favorite websites or yours!
Enjoy! Love, M

Introductions Continued
Hi! Happy Tuesday. I'm Anabelle O'Malley and it's my turn to introduce myself. I live in Delaware with my wonderful husband and my five year old son (who starts kindergarten today, sniff sniff). I've always loved papercrafting and have made cards and scrapbook pages since I was little. When I was in college I used to cut phrases out of magazines and add them to my photo albums. I held off on 'formally' scrapping because I knew once I started it would become an addiction. I was so right! I made my first pages four years ago and haven't looked back since! I guess you can describe my style as detailed, textured and a little bit shabby. I love color and layers and trying new techniques. But, photos and stories drive my pages, too. My family thinks my camera has become another part of my body! I'm just thrilled to be an MMM and look forward to this exciting year!
Here is a page I made about me. I like doing these 'snapshot' kind of pages every once in a while. We have to see where we are, to know where we are going. ;)
Well, that's it for me. Thanks for stopping by! Anabelle O’Malley
