Just for Fun
I had so much fun playing with MM's digital kit by Michelle Coleman. Here's the layout I made. That's my three-year-old brother, Josiah. He's such a cutie, isn't he?!

If you'd like this kit too, you can download it for free HERE and if you get a chance to play with it, please post your layout HERE.

Thanks for letting me share, and thanks so much Memory Makers (and Michelle Coleman!) for this fabulous kit!

Remembering The Words

It's nice to remember the things that people say, whether it be funny, sentimental, inspiring, etc. I started to make layouts this month focusing on conversations that I'd like to remember as well. This one is about Nicole being too excited about turning three. A few days before her 3rd birthday, whenever we ask her a question, she replies "THREE!" :)

Of CHA and Birthdays

Hey everyone! Unfortunately for me, I have an ACT test to study for, so I don't get to go to CHA this time. Yes. A BIG boo-hoo bummer for me. My mom (Sharon) will be there though, so say hi to her in the Prima booth for me and tell her how much you miss me. bwahaha. :)

Now I know I should be studying for my test, but I can't resist posting a layout I made about my darling sister, Breanna. She turned 16 today! She's my baby sister so it's a little hard for me to believe. :)

Happy birthday, babe! I love you! :)

This layout also uses some new Prima goodies that will be coming out at CHA. (Man. I feel so left out. sniff sniff.)

Okay, okay...off to study! Wish me luck! :)

Pack it up day...
Gosh, I cannot believe it is time to head out for CHA. I leave tomorrow. So today I will be washing, packing clothes, going over lists, getting Maya Road projects wrapped and packed, checking my lists again etc.. This is the day I love. I feed off of all the excitment and stress CHA brings my way.

Here is the canvas I created for the DT wall that will be in Maya Road's booth #1987. I no longer suck my finger but I do still twirl my hair. I used some of Maya Road's new Jewel Ribbon Flowers, Scrolls, Buttons and Stamps from a previous release. The quote reads: Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up. Pablo Picasso

If you will be attending CHA please stop by Maya Road's booth. I will be helping with make-n-takes and would love to meet you.

Wishing you a wonderful day,
Lisa

my calendar

Woo hooo... perhaps 2008 is my year to actually be organized!  Well... I wouldn't count on it, but at least I have a calendar which is an improvement over the past couple of years.  I used the My Book Adaptable Planner that came in our Memory Makers Masters prize package.  I wasn't able to print directly onto the sheets included with the planner so I just printed on a larger sheet and cut it down.  I LOVE IT!  I love have a planner that finally "me" instead of a premade one from the store.  Plus... if my "me" changes, I'll just print a new cover page!  I need to get cracking on printing additional layouts that can be slipped into the sleeves scattered throughout the planner.... but for now, I'm thrilled to be this far in my quest to be better organized... LOL!

Make & Take Mania...

I'm gearing up to head out to CHA this weekend! So much fun and I'm looking forward to it so much!! Just some time with the girls, oogling new scrappy goodies, and doing Make & Takes at the Memory Makers booth of course! :)

When I started thinking about the M&T, I wanted to make it "me" of course, so there's cardboard, Dymo labels, stamping, my fave vintage-y floral paper, felt, staples. Yeah, pretty much my "go to" classics. :) Plus a little minor hybrid...printed out the digi bird onto transparencies. :)

So c'mon by the booth to chat and do a little Make & Take!

Hope to see y'all there! Have a smilie-filled day! ...Staci :)

Caffiene Withdrawal

I was always quite proud of the fact that I had never drunk coffee. I thought it was good for me..you know avoid the addicition and all that? Some people had tried to tell me that the amount of diet coke I took in was why I didn't drink coffee, or at least didn't need to. I never really believed them...until this weekend. I have just spent the weekend giving up diet colas of all description. OMG! The headaches and aches and HORROR of it all. I can't believe it. Just terrible. So scrapping has been near impossible. It is too darn hard to have an independent, creative thought when you feel like your brain is about to come out through your eyeballs.

So I did the next best thing and scrap-lifted. I thought the digi recipe book idea by Tracy A. last week was just about the funkiest idea going around... and begging to be lifted. So with a need for distraction, I turned to the closest available digi kit (the FREE one by Michelle Coleman here http://www.memorymakersmagazine.com/article.aspx?id=228) and scraplifted to my heart's content. Thanks Tracy for the awesome idea, and cheers Michelle and MM for the kit. This was my first time at digi scrapbooking and I can highly recommend it...both for the fun and for the withrawal symptom relief!!

Cheers,

A.

I handwrite my journaling because ...I am a lazy scrapper.

I could have said "I want to preserve my handwriting for my future generations" or "handwritten journaling is more heartfelt".  It would have cast a much better light on this scrapper.  But, eh, the truth is...I just can't be bothered to monkey with my printer.  I much prefer the ease of just scribbling right atop my layout or photograph.  AND...in pencil.  I love using mechanical pencils for journaling...mistakes whisked away with a white eraser.  As for pens...mistakes take on much more permanent properties:S (This was Christmas 2006...not 2007:S  I forever log the wrong dates for my Christmas photographs:S)

Just a random fact really...no significance to this post:D

Supplies:

Patterned Paper:  Chartwell Studios, Miss Elizabeth's
Buttons:  Autumn Leaves
Stickers:  American Crafts, Creative Imaginations, and MM

Have a great day:D

Home Decor
I love creating items just for the sake of creating. Sometimes I just sit down and start never knowing what I am going to come up with in the end. Well this project is the end result of one of those moments. I grabbed my Cocoa Daisy Jan. Kit and a few pages from one of the new release albums by Maya Road. Their new Butterfly Chipboard Book measures 6" x 7.75" and is perfect for this 8 x 10 canvas. I embellished the butterfly using a few new release Scrolls and a Velvet Sparkle Blossom both by Maya Road.  I love the vintage theater tickes Tricia placed in her Jan. kit. I think they look so cute sticking out from behind the flower. Now I just need to figure out where I am going to place this little beauty.

Have a great day.

Hand-cut Titles
Hey, everyone! I've been so busy lately with....well, life. LOL! Here's a recent layout...the song that I used on it is now very near and dear to my heart. It's called "My Healer" by Planetshakers. A week or two ago I was freaking because I had an SAT test to study for. As soon as this song came on my iPod and I heard the lyrics, I was totally at peace. I listened to it about 5 times! LOL. It totally inspired me to make a layout--dedicated to my awesome God. :)

LOL...so HERE it is, finally...it's a hybrid, btw. ;)

And here's a close up of my title. I had so much fun hand-cutting the title and coloring it with a glittery gel pen. I put it up on foam squares to add dimension and I LOVE how it turned out! Is hand-cutting still in? Because I love it. LOL.

In this next pic you can really see the glitter.

Isn't that FUN? LOL...here's where you say, "Okay Brittany, it's very cool. Now step away from the scissors and glitter pens before you hurt yourself." And I will, I promise. As soon as you pull out your razor sharp, itty-bitty tipped titanium scissors and give this a try. :)

Pens (Sakura), Ink (Tim Holtz Distress Ink by Ranger), itty bitty tipped scissors (Fiskars), Photos by Sharon Laakkonen
