Reuse, Reuse, Reuse!

I love finding ways to reuse things around me so that they do not end up in landfills. (This will probably be the first of lots of blog posts that I address this. ;) ) Well, the other day I was the snack mom for soccer. I was in a rush and ended up having to buy pre-cut and bagged apple slices. I hated to purchase something that used so much packaging, but just didn't have a choice that day. So, after all of the treats were devoured I was left with three of these boxes.

I decided that they could house some of my son's MANY small toys that lay around our house. But I didn't have any adhesive remover and didn't feel like spending an hour trying to peel off the label. So, I made my own label to cover it!

I began by cutting an oval from another piece of packaging that I'd saved. It's from a pack of alphabet letter stickers.

I placed a chipboard letter in the center and added a few embellishments. I ended up with "B" for blocks...

I made another one with 'C' for cars...

And then I grabbed a plastic container that originally housed nectarines from the grocery store and placed his markers in it.

There are so many possibilities for using packaging like this. Aside from toys, small embellishments, buttons or ribbon could be placed in them in your scraproom.

While I probably will buy more earth friendly packaging when I can, I know that I will continue to reuse the plastics that I do purchase. They can go from trash to treasure and help keep me organized as well!!

Thanks for stopping by! ~Anabelle
