Momma-to-Be {baby shower invites}

My baby sister is to be a first time momma soon.  Her darling hubby pampered her and gave her breakfast in bed this morning in honor of Mother's Day. (I also got the same wonderful treatment from my wonderful hubby this morning.)

Becoming a momma is just about the most wonderful thing in the world and I am super excited that my sister is going to experience this soon.  Of course a new baby is cause for a party.  A baby shower is in the works and of course I was designated invite maker.  Today seems like a good day to share that invite since today is all about a celebration of motherhood.

There are two things to know before I show you the invite.  One is that we know the new baby is to be a little boy.  So no "neutral" baby colors for us!  The second is my sister is young and funky so no traditional baby rattles and buggy themes for her.  She never stipulated this of course but I wanted the invite to be a reflection of her.

This is what I made.

Masculine in color, simple and elegant in design but with enough of a cutesy baby look to satisfy the grandmas. :)

To create the base of the card I used Prism cardstock in Island Mist Medium.  (I am completely in love with this color and I am thinking of painting my scrapbook room in it.  Just need to take my scraps into the paint store and get it matched!).  I left the paper slightly larger then I needed and then embossed them with this.

I used this Textured Impression with my Big Shot and it gave the card such a perfect touch.  So simple to do and so fast to mass produce a lot of cards.  Once the card was embossed I folded the cardstock and cut them down to size.

Next came the only embellishment to the card.

Don't you just love this little guy?  He is so adorable (the stamps come in a boy bot version and a girl bot version). I chose to use stamps because I could mass produce the cards without worrying about having enough of one particular supply to make all the cards the same.  The alpha are also stamps and belong to one of my favorite new letter sets.  I added the faux stitching around the outer edge with a journaling pen and raised the whole thing on foam squares.  A small strip of dark blue cardstock (Mystic Dark) underneath completed the whole look.

On the inside I printed off the party details on white cardstock, rounded the corners and adhered it down.

I am glad I kept the card simple since I had to make 30+ of them. :)

Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms, Grandmas and Mommas-to-be out there!  Hope you are having a great day.
