I am going to start a new product series called Extra Mileage. Basically, I want to play with a chosen product and see all the fun things I can come up with. I thought this might give you some ideas for your pages/crafts. :)

So the first product I am going to get extra mileage from is embossing powder. A pretty basic supply that most of us have in our stash. Actually, learning to heat emboss was one of the first techniques I learned when I first started scrapbooking. Of course all I ever did with it was stamp an image and then heat emboss it with my embossing powder. Pretty cool but I figure there has to be tons more I can do with this magical substance!

This is the page I made - look at the title.
I embossed the chipboard letters which created a great look to some left over chipboard letters I have hanging around.

Whenever I have used most of a package of chipboard letters I toss the leftovers in this bag. I usually paint them when I use them on a page to create a cohesive look between the different fonts but using the embossing powder gives me another option.

Look how great the finish looks on these letters. I used the new American Crafts Zing! embossing powder for these. I put on two coats to get this smooth finish. I embossed the first coat as normal (using pigment ink) and then immediately after I heated it I sprinkled another layer of powder over it. You have to do this pretty quickly, before the first layer cools (do not add more ink). When you heat it again you get this nice glossy coating. This particular color has a metallic finish.
I then repeated this with a second set of letters in a contrasting color.

It looks so great in real life - the chipboard lettes look like they came this way. I love how this turned out and I will definitely do this again.
Oh and one more thing to share about this page.

I used the new printed Kraft paper from Fancy Pants for this page. I used my Fingertip Craft Knife to cut around the outer part of the leaves and then tucked foam squares just under the ends. It lifted the leaves just a bit since they were still attached at the stem. I used black 3D foam squares so you can barely even see them when you look at them from the side. I love these little black squares! :)
