Heat-Embossed Stamping
Friday, May 18, 2007 9:58:05 AM (Eastern Daylight Time, UTC-04:00)

Recently the topic of heat embossing, a stamping technique that creates a raised, shiny line, came up on the Memory Makers forum. The technique is simple, but a few pointers from forum members will help you get it just right.

7427-flymetothemoon.jpgReading this thread sent me on a search for heat-embossed stamping examples, and I was pleased to find several on a new blog by Godelieve Tijskens called Stamping Mathilda. I love the white embossing on vellum she used on Fly Me to the Moon (left). The stamps on this card are by just johanna. The moon was sponged, using a mask. You’ll see several other examples of white embossing on vellum on the Stamping Mathilda blog, and be sure you scroll down to the Let’s Chat ATC in the May 8 blog entry. Beautiful!

But maybe I’m rushing ahead. If you’re not sure what heat-embossed stamping is or need a basic primer, go to scrapjazz for an article by Maureen Spell with step-by-step instructions and photos.

OK, everyone has all the information they need to use heat-embossed stamping successfully on scrapbook layouts or other crafts. I’d love the see a sample of your work or hear about your heat-embossing experiences. Please share.
