Two-page Love
11/5/2007 11:05:53 AM (Eastern Standard Time, UTC-05:00)
I rarely create two-page layouts. Normally, I use one or two photos on a piece of 8½x11 cardstock. During a weekend-crafting spree, however, I decided to make a two-page spread because I wanted to use a number of photos so I could truly illustrate the extent of my book obsession.
I created the card pocket using cardstock, and the index card pulls out to reveal hidden journaling. The journaling above the title reads: "To get a true sense of [a] book, I have to spend a few moments inside. I'll glance at the first couple pages, then flip around to somewhere in the middle, see if the laungage matches me somehow. It's like dating, only with sentences. Some sentences, no matter how well-dressed or nice, just don't do it for me. Others I click with instantly. It could be something as simple yet weirdly potent as a single word choice (

). We're meant to be, that sentence and me. And when it happens, you just know."

P.S. I'm always looking to add to my reading list, so leave me a comment with your favorite book or author or poet!
Have a happy Monday, everyone!

For a total chick book, I would strongly recommend "Something Borrowed" followed by "Something Blue". I am not a big reader but could have finished them both in a week!

Well, "The Namesake" is one of my favorites, but I see you already have that one. Some of my other favorites are "The Posionwood Bible," "Girl With a Pearl Earring," "The Passion of Artemesia," "The Partly Cloudy Patriot," and, of course, "Confessions of a Shopaholic." I'm a bit of a bibliophile too (shocking, I know, being a book editor and all.)

I can truly understand why you would need at least two pages for such a subject. I recently had to move and forced myself to get rid of about 20 boxes of books. Of course, since I've arrived in my new home, I've been adding to the ones that I did bring with me. As for favorites, my all-time favorite is "Time Enough for Love" by Robert Heinlein. And then there are the scrapbooking mysteries by Laura Childs. But I also love her tea shop mysteries, and the China Bayles mysteries. For interior decor, I like Christopher Lowell's books, especially the one on getting organized. That's what helped my get rid of the 20 boxes!
