My Wings Are Made Of...
8/27/2007 1:16:52 PM (Eastern Daylight Time, UTC-04:00)

I truly enjoyed participating in Patty's challenge.

The title (My Wings Are Made of Words) came to me quickly. Ever since I was a child, I've been enchanted by words, and because words are such a large part of my life, it made sense that my wings would be made of them. Without words—both reading and writing them—I would not be me.

JOURNALING READS:
Written by me or written by others, I'm always able to escape and soar on a delightful string of words. 8-26-07

TECHNIQUES USED:
I fell in love with the red bird paper from My Mind's Eye. (The paper I used is from the new Bohemia collection.)

To create texture, I painted on the brown cardstock with Ranger's new Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint. I used "Weathered Wood" because the soft, grayish-blue color matched the blue in the patterned paper. I then glued my title on top of the distressed paint.

The journaling was handwritten on a piece of cream notebook paper that was torn directly out of my art journal. I like the way the handwritten writing contrasts with the antique-looking stamped letters.

It's been wonderful to see how others have responded to this challenge. If you haven't shared your page yet, please do so here. Or, if you're unable to participate in the challenge, but would still like to share what your wings are made of, please leave me a comment.

All the best,

Katie

LOVE the journaling! I may have to steal it for a page about myself...
