We’re big fans of Kelly Rae Robert’s new book Taking Flight (2008, North Light Books). It’s part workbook, part inspiration and just darn gorgeous!

Earlier this week Katie, Beth and I had a Taking Flight play date. We set aside an hour to see what we’d come up with if we pulled out some supplies and Kelly Rae’s book.

Here are a few shots. I was striving to create something that WASN’T clean and classic in style or all goodness and light. (I just seem to start out wanting to do something funky and before I know it all my papers are frilly and girly.)



I’m satisfied with what I created—a small affirmation plaque that says I Come In Peace (on the left, leaning against Buddha's belly). Katie's I Dwell In Possibility affirmation (on the right, against Buddha) makes me happy, too. Where do you turn for creative inspiration?

P.S. from Beth: While hugely inspired by Kelly Rae (love that girl!), I wasn't in a creative mood and just doodled during our play date. Still, it was fun to just daydream and take flight mentally!
