Winner: Journal Junkies Workshop give away
Monday, August 02, 2010 9:46:32 AM (Eastern Daylight Time, UTC-04:00) Thanks to the random number generator at www.random.org, we have a winner of the free copy of Journal Junkies Workshop. Congratulations are in order for Sandy P!Sandy said: "I'm new to scrapbooking so, I use just
about every new technique I find. My last project was an altered book
for my son's trip to Montana. He volunteered to dig up dinosaur bones
for one month (his childhood dream)...so, I found a kids book entitled
"The Big Dinosaur Dig" and made it "his" story!" <<< How cute is that? Sandy, I've sent you an e-mail with information on receiving the book. Please respond by Aug. 11. Lot's of you had great ideas for using mixed-media techniques in your scrapbook layouts. Here are a few ideas: Debi Devitt: "Right now making books out of recycled
items: game boards, old boxes found at yard sales, light bulb boxes,
etc. Also just finally tried bubble wrap as a stamping pad. Love the
effect for backgrounds."
Jenny McMahon: "Love that you can find uses for stuff just
laying around your house...bottle caps...can tabs...different objects
to emboss with or decorate your page with by inking. Thanks for the
opportunity to win."
Theresa Amlong: "I use non-industry items on my scrapbook
pages. I live in Japan so love to incorporate Japanese rice papers,
washi tapes, and mizuhiki chording into my pages."
Trina B: "I love to re-purpose things- old jewelry,
using pieces of old clothing, packaging from things I buy, whatever I
get my hands on- on scrapbook projects and canvas wall art projects. I
love looking at projects people have made and reading about new
techniques- it's great inspiration!"There are so many more ideas on the contest entry page! Click here to read them all. You can check out the free project that kicked off this give away by clicking here. Also, if you still want a copy of Journal Junkie Workshop, head over to the MyCraytivityStore, where we're having a sale! Click here to get this bargain! Happy scrapping! Enter to Win a $250 ScanDigital Gift Card!
Friday, June 19, 2009 9:58:40 AM (Eastern Daylight Time, UTC-04:00) Happy Friday, friends! We have a great giveaway to kick off your weekend! Like many scrapbookers, you probably have precious family
memories—photos, albums, slides, negatives and home movies—just sitting
in boxes. These memories, both old and new, are likely the heart of why
you scrapbook, but because of their condition or format, aren't being
used. This is where ScanDigital, the world's premier photo digitization service, comes to the rescue. You
just send ScanDigital your photos, scrapbooks, scrapbook pages (up
to 12x17), slides, negatives and home movies, and ScanDigital provides
high-quality scans and provides them to you both in digital format (DVD
or CD)
and through their online gallery. Using their fully interactive online
gallery, you can share your photos with friends and family, upload
additional digital images to complete your digital gallery, order
reprints, and order other print products (i.e. mugs, key
chains, T-shirts) through their print partner Qoop. With ScanDigital,
you can preserve, share and enjoy
your memories forever. We at Memory Makers know
ScanDigital provides a great user experience, because ScanDigital
scanned, color corrected and processed the majority of layouts in our
2009 issues. Our contributors sent requested layouts directly to
ScanDigital, and ScanDigital handled the rest. We couldn't have been
happier with the process and the results. Good news! ScanDigital is generously giving a $250 credit to one winner randomly selected electronically. For details and to enter, click here. The contest ends at 11:59 p.m. EDT Thursday, June 25. Have a wonderful weekend! Best, Beth contests | Photo Printing | products we're loving

Lisa Tutman-Oglesby's Favorite Storage Solutions
Friday, December 12, 2008 7:58:59 AM (Eastern Standard Time, UTC-05:00) As you know, the Masters are offering up lots of organizational advice this month. Today, Master '07 Lisa Tutman-Oglesby shares a story and photos of her favorite storage solutions. She's also answering your questions in the forum ( click here to enter). ~~~~~~~~~ Years ago, two of my favorite (and very first) scrapbook stores were located just miles apart in Illinois. They were the kind of shops where the owners and salespeople knew who you were and exactly what kind of product would appeal to you as an individual customer. I would often get a call from someone at one of the shops to inform me about the latest and greatest product that had just come through the doors and I would love it. Of course, they were always right. These shops were also places where like-minded scrappers would meet, crop, shop, discuss trends and share projects and ideas. It was very much our own little creative community. After many years in business, both stores closed within a year of each other. I think the competition from discount retailers and Internet product access was too much to compete with. I think any die-hard scrapper has seen this kind of loss at one time or another especially in these tough economic times. When the stores closed the customers were offered an opportunity to purchase the available product fixtures. I remember when I was looking at the Laura Ashley armoire at one of the stores, I had to measure the cabinet to see if it would fit into my space. I felt really awful about having to do that too. I felt like it was disrespectful somehow to measure "my gain" at the "owner's loss". I had a long discussion with the owner about it and apologized for bringing my tape measure under the circumstances of a store closing its doors after so many years.
(Above) I added metal brackets to the
pegboard backing so that I could add shelves for additional storage.
The armoire has a matching 12 X 12 paper shelf and I added plastic 12 X
12 paper shelves to match on the other side.I'll always remember the owner putting her hand on my shoulder and saying, "Lisa, I'm sorry the store is closing too but I'm thrilled this armoire will go to someone like you who will love it and use it wisely". Wow. She wanted me to know that she was OK with everything and was happy I'd be taking the fixtures to a new home where they would be appreciated long after her doors officially closed. By the way, I shared a photo of the new armoire with her weeks later and she loved the addition of the shelves. The fixtures have been invaluable to me and of course they're the ultimate perfect storage solutions because they're designed to hold exactly what I place in them. (Above, left) This is an awesome storage unit and it
can hold a bit of everything. It came with metal hooks and plastic
circular containers. (Above, right) I use this metal rack to store glitter bottles and paints.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Don't forget to enter the Save My Space! Sweepstakes. Click here to enter. ______________________________ • I didn't put photos on this layout and instead left space for Jennifer to add her own
photos and memories. • The washcloth on the layout serves a purpose by holding a journaling card that I left blank so Jennifer could write her thoughts/best memories on it. • I wrote a note on the back of the layout with the date. • I used all scrap paper and embellishments that I already had around the house (check out the super-cute Karen Foster bathtub brad with rhinestone bubbles in the center photo). Do you have a friend or family member who doesn't
have time to scrap? This idea would make a perfect holiday gift. Make a
