Use your scrapbooking inks for these two off-the-page projects. Then apply the same techniques on your scrapbook pages.
supplies: Adhesive (Therm O Web) • Alcohol ink (Ranger) • Brad (Karen Foster) • Dye ink (Clearsnap) • Flower (Heidi Swapp) • Metal word, wood frame (Jo-Ann) • Sealant (Krylon)
Dress up an inexpensive wood frame to highlight your photo:
- Set aside the frame glass, lightly sand the frame and drag a dye ink pad around the frame edges. To protect the finish, spray the frame with two coats of clear sealant.
- Alter a metal word and large brad by daubing them with alcohol ink. Snip off the brad prongs and adhere it to a flower center with an adhesive dot.
supplies: Adhesives (3L, Therm O Web, Xyron) • Alcohol ink (Ranger) • CD case (Office Max) • Dies (Sizzix) • Die-cutting machine (Spellbinders) • Flowers (Prima) • Fluid chalk (Clearsnap) • Ghost letter (Heidi Swapp) • Magnetic stamp set (Making Memories) • Patterned paper (My Mind’s Eye) • StazOn solvent ink (Tsukineko)
Decorate a case for a photo CD or home-movie DVD. Applying papers to the plastic cover’s inside and embellishments to the outside lends dimensionality.
- Daub layers of alcohol inks on a ghost letter for a mottled translucent effect. Layered alcohol inks on ghost letters have a watery, translucent quality.
- Stamp lettering on the outside of the case with solvent ink.
- Ink paper edges with fluid chalk.
