Glittered Eggs
Here are a few more Easter decorations I created. This weekend I had to create some things for the girls for Easter or I was not going to be a very good mom come Easter Sunday. These “ Egg Gift Boxes” are perfect for altering. Below is an easy step-by-step tutorial if you want to make some for yourself or to give as a gift. - Paint the inner and outer areas of the egg using Ranger Acrylic Paint Dabbers. I painted one Juniper and one Shell Pink. Allow to dry
- Cover the outer top and bottom of the painted egg with Mod Podge then cover with Coarse Glitter in Crystal. (I work in 1/4 sections) Allow to dry
- Line the outer edge of each box with a piece of Maya Road Cream Velvet Ric Rac
- Create a ribbon flower
out of crepe paper, using a strong liquid glue place a vintage rhinestone button in the center
- Cut two leaves out of felt using pinking shears and accent with a back stitch using embroidery floss.
These
will look so nice sitting on my table with the baskets I created over the weekend. It is finally starting to look like Spring in our house. Wishing you a wonderful day. Lisa

More photos from the dark
I already divulged my fear of the dark and dead people and that my very old house seems to have some very odd going ons...and then add the variable of a love for photographing abandoned buildings. A very spooky, spooky mix:S :S ;)
So the process goes...In the dark with a dim red light (red because the paper I use is not sensitive to red light), you place a piece of photo sensitive paper under the enlarger (same concept as an overhead projector), and turn on the light in the enlarger to expose the image from the negative onto the paper for about 4-10 seconds. You then transfer the paper into a tray of liquid developer. On the white sheet of photo paper the image slowly, then quickly, appears as you gently rock the tray...takes about 30 seconds. Normally it is exhilarating to see the image appear. But, when developing photos from a cemetery or a dilapidating house or warehouse at 1 in the morning:S ...Fearing capturing something that wasn't "there"...Spoooooky! LOL I generally have my sidekick with me in the darkroom for such occasions...but I got a late start and she was already in bed...she's 7;) Anywho...what a good find this house was! In the back it had some old gas pumps:D TFL

Have a happy, scrappy kind of day:D

Finding my way back
Slowly but surely, I'm finding my way back to scrapbooking. A couple weeks after having Josie, we moved. We only moved what we could fit in our vehicles and a covered trailer and left the rest back at our old house for the movers to move in the near future. So, basically we only moved what we absolutely needed ... clothes, kitchen items, and our beds. So, I had to leave my beloved scrapbooking items behind. I have to say, I have felt so lost without access to my scrapbook goodies. Last week I was able to go back to the old house and bring back some of my stuff, in hopes that I could do a little scrappin'. Well, I haven't been able to do that yet, but I'm getting closer (my goodness, having two kids sure is different than one). I at least have enough stuff here now, that when I get a chance, I can get creative, but first I need to find a spot on this temporary work surface! Amy

Sunday Brunch Table Decor
These easy to make baskets will look adorable on a Sunday
Brunch table marking each guests place setting or given as a gift before
leaving. I filled mine with glittered eggs and a chenille chick but there are
so many other great items to fill it with such as a tiny pot of spring flowers,
candy, decorated eggs etc. I think this is a wonderful way to welcome guests as
well as Spring. Enjoy, Lisa

Accenting with Embroidery Floss
Here is a technique I love to do with my patterned papers... accenting printed designs. In this layout I accented the swirls by hand stitching a back stitch on top of them. This is really easy and the supplies needed are minimal... paper piercer, sewing needle and embroidery floss. First, I like to poke holes along the pattern with a paper piercer. This makes stitching much quicker and easier. Then I thread three strands of embroidery floss into my needle and stitch away. This added touch gives your layouts a little something extra without putting in loads of time consuming work. I really like the added deminsion stitching gives as well as the added texture. Supplies Used: Dream Street Art Nouveau paper line, Maya Road Chipboard and Velvet Blossoms, Ranger Paint, Distress Ink and Stickles

Out Crusin'....
Sorry I have been a little absent lately! Things haven't slowed down much since the beginning of the year. Once CHA was over, I had to turn my attention to an extended weekend aboard this ship! I was given the opportunity by www.scrapbookcruise.com to teach three workshops to 19 lovely ladies this past weekend. We had a blast and the ladies were so fun to hang out with! I had never cruised before so that was an adventure in and of itself as well as teaching in a room that is subject sway and move a bit! However, reality hit when I didn't get home Monday afternoon as I expected but rather Tuesday morning (darn airlines!) and then the extreme fatigue that followed the next couple of days. Ugh. I am finally feeling a little bit more normal and hope to accomplish something yet today!

Some major cuteness...
There is some major cuteness going on in my front yard. Look at these little cuties. Each day I go out to check on them and take some photos. It is amazing how fast baby bunnies grow. Momma Cottontail lives in the bushes right in front of our window. It is so fun to watch her come and go. Enjoy. Lisa

My other hobby...
Hey all!! I wanted to share ( okay, okay...brag about...) these cupcakes that I made yesterday. I love baking. It's my favorite hobby-next to scrapbooking, of course-and it's one that my family can't complain about me doing too much. :D Now, it's not my recipe (you can find the recipe HERE),
but they turned out so cute that I just couldn't resist sharing. They taste pretty good too, if I do say so myself. Oh,
and the frosting? To die for. And you just might, considering the
amount of butter and cream cheese in there. LOL. But hey, what a way to
go... ;) I halved the frosting recipe and, as you can see, I used a ton
on my cupcakes. Because I just don't see the point of cupcakes without
a ton of frosting on them. Heehee. Anyway thanks for letting me
share, and if you do try these, let me know! I'd love to see 'em. Or
you could just send me a sample... ;) Brittany

Yeah! Chipboard letters that really stick!
Let's face it...chipboard sporting an adhesive backing generally do not stay put. Not a big deal really. Nothing a wee bit of liquid adhesive can't cure. So, I was playing with the new Amplified collection by American Crafts and ...
... their chipboard letters actually stuck! I didn't know what to do with myself!!? Zip Dry glue in one hand, a letter in another. It just didn't seem right to just stick it to the page. It seemed to defy physics ... it wasn't computing in my brain ... it must need more adhesive ... it just can't stick ... ! (Think "Something About Mary" here:: "No! No, no, not 6! I said 7. Nobody's comin' up with 6. Who works out in 6 minutes? You won't even get your heart goin, not even a mouse on a wheel. 7's the key number here. Think about it. 7-Elevens. 7 doors. 7, man, that's the number. 7 chipmunks twirlin' on a branch, eatin' lots of sunflowers on my uncle's ranch. You know that old children's tale from the sea. It's like you're dreamin' about Gorgonzola cheese when it's clearly Brie time, baby." ...and if you never seen the movie...just ignore and carry on ... I just quote movies for my own humor ;)
And really, less than tacky chipboard isn't a bother. It was just one of those pleasant surprises:D These new colors and designs of the Amplified series just make me smile:D Such a complement to my whack-a-do kidlets:D ...And chipboard that really sticks. Yahooooo-oo *read in commercial jingle voice*

[Layout designed for LifetimeMoments.com. I cut the American Craft Remark Accent Stickers into 2" squares and stuck them in a haphazard mosaic pattern on a piece of white cardstock.)

(See...grade-A whack-a-doodle! lol)
Supplies:
American Crafts:: Amplified:: Psychedelic, The Twist, MiniMarks Celebration book 4, Remark Stickers Journaling Book 1 and Accents book 1, Details Amplified Color Set 3, Chipboard Thickers Jewelry Box and Roller Rink
Have a happy, scrappy day!

No time to scrap
When you are a shift worker there are certain times that you just can't scrap ... (I have been contemplating getting a new job just to stop this from happening!!).. So for the last week, while I have been doing 12 hour night shifts, I have had to find something easy and small and that doesn't require my full attention but still lets me get that creative energy out. And this is one of the results.

Cards are a great way to not only use up scraps but they are also the perfect way to practice new techniques or use products that you don't play with very often (I don't use a lot of ribbon...but I think I should 'cause this yellow one from Autumn Leaves/MOD is too cute!!)
Anyway, I think I may use it for friends having babies (there is something in the water around here at the moment).
Cheers,
Amelia
supplies: adhesive (Pioneer), patterned papers (Chatterbox, Heidi Grace, MOD, Scenic Route), ribbon (MOD), Misc: embroidery thread.

Family Style...
Every family has little "things" that they do...traditions that make them "family". Sometimes, we don't even recognize them anymore b/c they're the norm for us. One of our unusual family traditions is inspired by Will Ferrell in Talledega Nights! LOL I know, I know...sounds horridly odd, but its funny! And its hilarious to see a 2yo not waving goodbye or high-fivin', but instead saying "shake and bake" in that little girl raspy voice she has while knuckling ya! LOL Its one of our family "things" so I wanted to document it. Figure out your family thing and post it...maybe even make a page with it! :)

Supplies: Adhesive (Adhesive Technologies, Provocraft), Buttons (Autumn Leaves), Label tape (DYMO), Patterned paper (Love Elsie, The Paper Studio), Pens (Sharpie, Uniball), Ribbon (Heidi Swapp), Stickers (7gypsies, American Crafts, Autumn Leaves)
Have a smilie filled day! ...Staci

Recycling Containers
I love the way scrapbook items are packaged and I always try to turn them into storage solutions. here is a clear bucket which used to hold chipboard cirlces. I just added some October Afternoon papers and burlap, placed a cute owl in the middle, wrapped the handle with lace and.... this will now be my storage for assorted chipboard letters. Have a great day! Iris
