I love it when...
projects come together so nicely. This is a mini album I created about my great grandparents. I love all the photos we have of them... which thankfully span many years. Grammy and Granpa Rand lived in Maine and New Hamphsire and traveled to Florida quite a bit. I have some great photos of them in swim suits that I cannot wait to scrap. Kinda wish they made them like that for women now... I just might have the nerve to get into one then. :) I am just so happy with how this album turned out. I think the patterned papers, vintage seam binding, glittered scrolls and velvet flowers compliment each other so nicely. Whew!!
I feel like I am finally able to come up for air after about six weeks! It has been a little bit crazy around here! CHA time is busy enough but add in preparing for teaching on a cruise (in just a few weeks) and getting settled into a new house, and my “nutso” factor is a little off the charts! I got back from CHA late Thursday night and had a ball! I love seeing friends that I have made in the industry and also getting to drool over all the new products on the market! And the weather in California was gorgeous. Unlike the miserable cold we are experiencing here in Indiana. Ugh. I hope spring is on the way!
Anyway, just wanted to check in. And since February is the month of Love, I thought I would leave you with a layout I did with the new Scarlet Lime kit!

Using Heritage Photos
I created this little wall hanging using a page from a Maya Road Triangle Banner. The weight of the chipboard is perfect to alter. The little girl is a copy from a photo of my Mom. Wasn't she just the cutest little thing! My niece Madelyn looks so much like her at this age. I think this is a fun way to incorporate heritage photos into projects.
All I did was scan the photo, print it out on white, heavy weight cardstock
and cut out the image. Next, I cut out wings and a crown freehand from patterened paper and added beads to the wings (make sure you leave room at the bottom of the wings so you can attach them to the back of the photo) Now just add buttons and rhinestones and your little angel is complete. I attached her to the banner using pop dots. I like the dimension it gives to the project. The banner is covered with patterned papers, lace, velvet ric rac, pom pom trim, tulle and rhinestones. The hanger is a silver pipecleaner. I tied a bow on one corner using white seam binding and added a silver jingle bell just for fun. I hope you give this a try. It is a really fun little project. TAG IT!
I was going through my scrap supplies and found that I had so many unused tags just lying around. So I took some October Afternoon Tags and made a mini booklet with it. This is about some random facts about our family - like how I can eat cold spaghetti, and how Nicole's dad used to have really really long hair! Yep! But I would not dare show a picture haha. Iris

Transition
Transition. This is what my crazy life is all about right now. It's all a little overwhelming, but I'm trying to take each day as it comes. With all of these changes (especially no. 3 - see below), I've barely had a chance to scrapbook. So, I'm trying to take lots of photos and write down a few things during this transitional time, so that I can scrapbook about it in the near future. I plan to do a layout about just how crazy life is right now. Here's what has happened in the past few weeks and what is going to happen in the next few ... 1. Hubby gets a new job 2. We put our house on the market 3. We have a baby4. Josie struggles with jaundice 5. We clean the house top to bottom 6. We have a open house - no bites :-( 7. Our dog, Millie, gets pancreatitis and we almost lose her (thankfully she pulls through) 8. We search for a place to rent 9. We start to pack and pack and pack 10. We clean constantly (well, it feels like it) for showings of the house 11. We plan for open house no. 2 12. We plan to move in two weeks Okay, now is the part where I tell myself to take a deep breath. Amy

The Songbook
I have finally started something I have planned to do for a while. There are some songs that just have great lyrics and "Vincent", by Don McLean, is just one of those ones that gets me every time. So I am scrapping them into a book ... It's an 8x8, with no photos - just my interpretation of the lyrics. Already I have found it's fantastic for using up all those paper scraps lying around that are too big to throw away. My stash is being used right before all those great products from CHA hit the shelves..WOOHOO!!
This is the first page, which has cherryArte, Heidi Grace, SEI and BasicGrey pps with hand-stitching (sometimes I wish I owned a sewing machine) and rubons from Making Memories and Autumn Leaves.
Cheers, Amelia.

CHA
i got to spend a few days at the CHA (craft & hobby association) show earlier this week, and it was a blast seeing all the new product, and spending time with the MM staff and my fellow '08 masters!

i got to meet the lovely (l-r) tracy austin, greta hammond, staci etheridge, and traci radtke! they are all awesome, and i loved getting to hang out with them. so cool to meet them in real life.
i took this as an opportunity to use the free wild sorbet digital kit by michelle coleman, which you can download here. (also used some goodies from designer digitals).
okay, on to some product pictures! here are some things i loved at the show -

- the daisy d's wonder years line. i wasn't sure i'd like it by seeing the previews, but i really liked it in person! this green (along with the white, which is the backside) sheet was my favorite sheet from the line.

- the heather bailey line from autumn leaves. her fabric is so pretty, and i was happy to see it in paper form!

- heidi swapp. i especially LOVED the gel flowers (on the left here). the colors are awesome, and they are really thing and flexible. i also thought these little felt embellishments were cute, and she had cool printed clears.

- there were many things i loved from jenni bowlin - the tangerine dreams paper ( i love the coral and turquoise color combo), and the diecut journaling blocks....but my favorite had to be these cute tickets!

- i usually love anything KI memories ... but i loved their releases at this show! i loved this courtyard line - so pretty. and i loved the bright, fun colors of the bloom line - right up my alley! they also have new lace papers - some of them are frosted!

- making memories' noteworthy line - i love that it comes in brighter colors! i also loved the new coordinating clear embellishments - those are always fun! and i love that they re-released the tiny alphas - especially in ledger! yay!

- love, love this cupcake font from october afternoon. so cute! the new papers were adorable (especially the apple print!) as well.

- sassafras lass's new stuff is ADORABLE. i loved all of it! plus i like that you can cut off the barcode part and use it as a border!
other highlights:
- kaisercraft. i think this is a new company. they had some beautiful papers and some fun embellishments. my favorite were the wood ones!
- karen russell's narratives line had some cool circle stickers, and diecut paper ribbon.
- sticker tickets from creative cafe! and cute little scallop chipboard mini albums from creative lifestyle.
- ledger and calendar papers from teresa collins.
- pink paislee. very very pretty!
- hambly. loved the brocade and the houndstooth overlays! i also am in love with the kraft stickers.
- love elsie's forrest line.
- SEI's dill blossom line. i also loved the teaser of the poppy line, but it doesn't come out until may!
- basic grey. i love the fun cupcake line, and the sultry line is sooo beautiful.
- american crafts! i love the new journaling sticker books, the new kids paper, the new chipboard...and okay, everything.
that's all. :)

Just for Fun
I had so much fun playing with MM's digital kit by Michelle Coleman. Here's the layout I made. That's my three-year-old brother, Josiah. He's such a cutie, isn't he?! If you'd like this kit too, you can download it for free HERE and if you get a chance to play with it, please post your layout HERE. Thanks for letting me share, and thanks so much Memory Makers (and Michelle Coleman!) for this fabulous kit! Brittany

Remembering The Words
It's nice to remember the things that people say, whether it be funny, sentimental, inspiring, etc. I started to make layouts this month focusing on conversations that I'd like to remember as well. This one is about Nicole being too excited about turning three. A few days before her 3rd birthday, whenever we ask her a question, she replies "THREE!" :) Iris

Of CHA and Birthdays
Hey everyone! Unfortunately for me, I have an ACT test to study for, so I don't get to go to CHA this time. Yes. A BIG boo-hoo bummer for me. My mom (Sharon) will be there though, so say hi to her in the Prima booth for me and tell her how much you miss me. bwahaha. :)
Now I know I should be studying for my test, but I can't resist posting a layout I made about my darling sister, Breanna. She turned 16 today! She's my baby sister so it's a little hard for me to believe. :)
Happy birthday, babe! I love you! :)

This layout also uses some new Prima goodies that will be coming out at CHA. (Man. I feel so left out. sniff sniff.)
Okay, okay...off to study! Wish me luck! :)

Pack it up day...
Gosh, I cannot believe it is time to head out for CHA. I leave tomorrow. So today I will be washing, packing clothes, going over lists, getting Maya Road projects wrapped and packed, checking my lists again etc.. This is the day I love. I feed off of all the excitment and stress CHA brings my way. Here is the canvas I created for the DT wall that will be in Maya Road's booth #1987. I no longer suck my finger but I do still twirl my hair. I used some of Maya Road's new Jewel Ribbon Flowers, Scrolls, Buttons and Stamps from a previous release. The quote reads: Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up. Pablo Picasso If you will be attending CHA please stop by Maya Road's booth. I will be helping with make-n-takes and would love to meet you. Wishing you a wonderful day, Lisa
