the cloud may be lifting!
The scrapping funk cloud that I've been living under for the past month or so that is! I finally finished a layout today! I have started several... however, none had made it to the point of being finished. I'm hoping that my finished layout is the one I needed to get me back on a scrapping roll.
Last week we were in Missouri visiting my parents. We live in downtown Chicago so it is a nice change of pace to be out in the country with all of that space. One of Alex and Clara's favorite things to do there is build contraptions with whatever miscellaneous stuff of my dad's that they find. Here is one of their most recent creations...
The Sister Launcher...
Supplies:
Puddle Jumper by Emily Powers & Kasia Sikorska @wearestorytellers.com
Black Tile Alpha by Emily Merritt @wearestorytellers.com
Fonts - AL Uncle Charles and Arial Black
Journaling:
you just never know what you two will come up with
you actually make a frightening pair...
alex, the engineer, building the contraption
and clara, the daredevil, ready to test it
this day it was a new life for the ramp grandpa had made you for your bikes
tomorrow... who knows what you will create.... (I just hope it’s safe!)
Woo hooo... it's good to be back! I hope to have more layouts to post soon!

What a darling layout ! Thanks for an inspiring idea of (looks like)putting two 4x5 photos together and dividing between one large background photo.
How cute!!!
Thanks thanks thanks!!!

This is fabulous!! Great action shots and having that big picture in the background really makes them pop out!! Hope your funk is over!! Must have been in the air!! ;)

This is beautiful....and the photo is quite funny too. Did you use a photoshop filter for the large photo? Did you use a specific layer with a layer style? Recently I have enjoyed using the "hard light" layer style by itself, without the actual photo.

Thank you all for the kind words!!!
Lisa - thankfully we're current on the insurance, and (knock on wood) we haven't had to use it lately!
Janie - thanks! Yes, you just never know! Somedays I have to weigh my options between keeping them safely wrapped in bubble wrap and letting them out there to experience the world!
Sheila - Yep... that's basically what I did! The two photos are 4x6's that I just ran off the edges of the pages until I got them the way I wanted them, so they ended up 4x5(ish) on the finished layout.
Tammy - thank you! I hope my funk is over too! Although our dreary rainy weather today isn't helping much! :-)
Angie - On the large photo I I can't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure I used a color pop action... then, when I'm blending a photo into a background, I go for as much contrast as possible. I start with a hard light layer and then bump up the contrast as much as I can stand it, until I get the look I want. I haven't tried a hard light layer by itself... cool idea! I'll have to try it!
Thanks again everyone!
